Icome from a land far, far away called Europe. Born in Slovenia, grew up in former Yugoslavia (now Serbia) and immigrated to New Zealand at the age of 14. I attended high school, did some travelling and then went to National College of Design and Technology (now Yoobee School of Design) to attain a Diploma of Computer Graphic Design. I found a junior position at a design studio in Auckland which expanded into a medium-sized advertising agency where I worked for 5 years.
I worked for the Ministry of Education in Wellington, New Zealand for 2 months in 2006. Later that same year I moved to Brisbane and freelanced for recruitment agencies for 2 years before I started working for the Queensland Government. I left the Government and worked as an in-house designer resource for Aurizon (formerly QR National). I am currently working full-time at QinetiQ Australia. I have recently completed my studies and gained a Diploma of Digital Media Design from Billy Blue College of Design. During my career of more than 15 years, I have worked in a range of environments: advertising agencies, design studios, government and most recently corporate. I have experience in liaising with clients, stakeholders, external suppliers and providing support and training to other designers. I am able to convert concepts to finished product within tight deadlines and budget. I am thorough, accurate and have impeccable attention to detail. I have extensive knowledge in preparing artwork for print, colour and stock selection and press-checking print projects.
I believe I’m a bit of a mix: graphic designer, finished artist, illustrator, and, more recently, a multimedia designer with skills in 2D and 3D animation, video editing, UX/UI and web design.
I have worked on New Zealand tourism brands such as Shotover Jet, Huka Jet, Rainbow Springs and Milford Sound Red Boat Cruises. I have also created artwork for Jeep and Chrysler, as well as direct mail campaigns for the Starship Foundation in Auckland. At Trade and Investment Queensland (Queensland Government), I developed design concepts and collateral for Queensland Education and Training International (QETI) Awards and Export Awards. I was a go-to person for proposal and creative report design at Aurizon. My current role at QinetiQ Australia is varied and incorporates almost every design discipline: from brochure design to landing page design, internal communications graphics to external advertising, events collateral (stand design, digital brochures, print items, merchandise etc.) to online recruitment campaigns and videos. I am also the company’s brand custodian and provide advice on logo usage, photography, videography, graphics, layout, templates etc. I have also been freelancing on and off for a few years developing illustrations and corporate identities for clients.
